Is toothpaste a liquid or a solid or both?

Year 4, as regards to todays lesson, can you research this question and summarise your answer, giving reasons for your choice! This is going to be interesting, especially after today's debate in Science!

  6. Toothpaste is both a solid and a liquid. This is known as a colloid. Some colloids are translucent [see through]. This is caused by the scattering of light by particles in the colloid. This is called the Tyndall effect.
